Fired: How to handle it on your resume

I don't know of anyone that is not somewhat apprehensive about even writing the word FIRED on a note to a friend let alone on a resume. So, how do you overcome the obstacle of being fired when re-writing your resume' for your next job hunt? First of all, remain calm, I have been fired myself but still have a great job that I enjoy so you see, we can get through this.

Now the most important thing to remember is that everything happens for a reason. If you walk into your next interview thinking that this is your dream job, chances are it will be. So now that you have a positive mind frame, think of the best thing that has happen because you were fired, do you spend more time with your children, have you lost weight because now you have time for an afternoon walk, or have you been brushing up on your writing skills? Whatever the case if you can make something positive that has happened into a reason to leave a job then you have a wonderful reason for leaving your last employer. I do believe spending more time with your family is a very important thing you can do in life. Without family the life would be very lonely.

One thing to remember is that if your prospective employer asks specifically about the terms of your leaving it is best to be truthful. If you are searching for work in the same Field it is likely that your new employer may know your old one and that may present a difficult explanation in the future. With a positive attitude and some preplanned responses, handling the question of being fired on your resume will be a breeze!
