and, get this, served with guacamole, pineapple salsa and sour cream was more than incredibly awesome. My fiancs' cheeseburger with two slices of Provolone cheese and thick-cut golden-brown fries must have been equally delicious; he didn't leave crumbs. We sat for a while and talked about the marvelous wall ornaments before he ordered a slice of home-style cheesecake and I tackled a helping of apple cobbler.
After such a large lunch, we were lucky to make it down the sidewalk. We cut into a garden-like passage off Parkway and ventured into an old-timely photo studio to have our portrait made. Believe me, though the air conditioner was humming and fans were isolating, once dressed in the 1850s attireI was an elegant southern woman in a hooped petticoat and long taffeta gown and my fianc was a Confederate general wearing a felt hat and a long woolen gray coat and baring a Confederate flag on his gloved arm. I was amazed these carnival-like rides were so popular with the fabulous Dollywood only a short distance up Dollywood Lane, which branches off from U.S. Hwy. 441, about where we started our walk.
And you know what; if you're ready to get married, there are several chapels with prices starting at $50. Wedding amenities vary from very plain to superiorly elegant. Remember, you get what you pay for.
The Sky Lift, at Parkway and Maple Lane, is a must take traverse to the top of a mountain. The chair lift took us over a street, then up the hillside to an observation tower 518-feet above Gatlinburg. From this deck we looked down on the city; also we viewed the awesome rows of mountains towering into the clouds like a stairway to heaven. And I, always with camera
