Mother's day is a wonderful opportunity to take some time and say thank you. I love gift baskets my self! I find when you do them yourself it is so much more personal. I know some of you are thinking I am not creative enough to do that; I say you are! Here are some wonderful ideas I would like to share.

1. Movie night- A basket with a DVD of a favorite movie or a new release. Some microwave popcorn with those cute little movie theater themed containers, movie candy such as goobers or chocolate covered raisins are a fun addition. You can also put in a bottle of wine with a cute wine glass or a really nice throw to cuddle up in. Depending on your budget you can do more or less to fit your financial needs. Remember gifts from the heart are the most treasured!

2. Knitting-Some new knitting needles and a pattern book are a great start. Then you could add some nice skeins of yarn or a gift card to a knitting shop where they could choose some on their own. Cute little scissors to trim yarn or little measuring tapes are extremely cute and a useful touch. All of this can go in a basket that can hold their knitting or a cute knitting bag!

3. Stationary- You can put in some stationary with nice pens that match; picking a color theme is very helpful to make it look put together'. Also some blank thank you cards are always nice to have around and even postage is great addition. You can put in an address book or a blank journal that matches. If you really want to get fancy there are several websites that you can upload pictures and make the set even more personal!

The best way to start is to brainstorm, think of things your mother likes to do in her free time. Then you can pick a favorite past time and brainstorm on all the things she would physically need to enjoy that hobby. Remember to check your local dollar stores, often you can find nice baskets and cute little trinkets to give it that personal feel.
