Dealing with neck, back, and shoulder pain

those muscles will have to work together to achieve that goal.
Here are three exercises to get you started on improving your biomechanical function. Now these are going to help not only your neck pain, but will also resonate down your entire spine. Lets not get ahead of ourselves though...you came here for neck pain!

Stand against a flat wall...heels touching the wall, but against the wall, your mid back touching it and your head pulled making contact without pulling your chin up. Make sure to keep your jaw level to the floor. Now pull your shoulders back and down. Hold this position for one minute. That is it!...all you are doing is resetting your posture...it doesn't take long for your brain to recognise that this is the right way to be. Your shoulders, ear, hips, knees and ankles all should fall close to a straight line. You are trying to build up buns of steel here, all you are trying to do is have the buns in the right place!..If you do this once a day you will see results in as little as two weeks. People may even start teasing you about your perfect posture!

Step 2 is a little more active. Whenever and wherever you can, stretch your pect muscles. Remember that crazy party where everyone was trying to do the "YMCA'..well I want you to do the "w"...bring your arms up like you are showing your strongman pose, or like you are sticking your chest out...be careful where you choose to do this exercise!...When your shoulders are back rach across to that tender spot below your collarbone and rub it, vigorously...Yeah I know it hurts, but it wont in a few days. By doing this you are dispersing fluid buildup and bringing blood to the area.

Step 3 is a combination step: Drink water and smile more. You know you should drink water, but smiling will help?..I think so...We used to be monkeys...animals...and what does an animal do when stressed?...it raises the hair on the back of its neck and hunches up. Well guess what Grape Ape...that is what you do when you are stressed! Your trap muscles are where your hair was back when you were swinging from vines and hanging with tarzan. Animals manifest stress physically in there tramps and so do we. If you are physically stressed you will become emotionally stressed and vise versa. So to remove one you must reduce the other...so smile, be happy, turn off the news and eat a banana...faking happiness is the best substitute for the real thing.
