Choosing a name for your band is a little like deciding what to wear. It can be as simple as reaching for yesterdays duds or racing through the aisles of clearance sale rounds ten minutes before closing time and twenty minutes late for the dress rehearsal of your own wedding.

So, you want to look your best. You care what people think and you want to be remembered. Polka dots will never do. Stripes seem to stripey. Paisley just isn't you. You consider something solid colored; not too small, not too big. You will have found just the right name when it fits . Its a no-brainier. It just feels right.

Goldilocks payed a visit to the little house on the hill. No one was home. She tried all the chairs till she found the one that felt good. She ate from all the bowls till she tasted the one she liked. She laid in all of the beds till she found the one that was just right.

There are no secrets, there are no formulas, there are no do's and don'ts. Your name, your identity, your appearance, your image, your sound, it is all about what feels right. You can call yourself 'Dress Rehearsal', you can call yourself 'Closing Time', or 'Stripey', or 'Goldilocks', or 'House on the Hill', or 'All the Beds', or how about you call yourself 'Late for Dinner'?

They are all good names. Find what feels good to you and remember that the music makes the band, then the band makes the name, not the other way around.
