Fired: How to handle it on your resume

If you've been fired from a job, it can be a tough thing to figure out how to put it on the resume. In general, I think the less specific you are about it, the better. Things are different during the interview, but strictly for the resume you might want to skimp some on the details.

If it's a job that's not really important to your resume, you might even just leave it out. But assuming that's not the case, you might be able to just not list a reason why you left. You can say you worked at some place from one date to another date, without going into details. That way you have the experience on there that you did get, but you don't put the negatives on the resume.

In the interview, if asked, then obviously you have to let them know you were let go. If you lie about it there, you'll get figured out, and then you definitely won't get the job if you're found to be lying. But in the resume, a don't ask/don't tell policy might be best.
