Freedom or Frenzy: You Decide

So you have dreams. But dreams are only dreams until you make your dreams a reality. If you want to make your dreams come true, these are the steps that you should take:

1. Decide what your dreams are: You can't take the steps you need to take unless you know what your dream is and what activities you need to participate in to make those dreams happen.

2. Once you know what your dreams are, get involved in the activities that can make them happen. If it is being a writer, write. Everyday. And maybe get involved in a writing group so that others can read it and give you feedback. If it is being an artist, create. Everyday. If it is being businessperson, pursue a degree in business so that you will know how to implement your fresh, new ideas for the business world. But do some research to see what your dreams require and take some small step everyday to get there.
3. Start small. Don't try to do everything at once. If you want to be an artist, do the work that you can do on your own and accept that you will need more than just you to make the dream happen and be willing to collaborate to do it.
4. Be realistic and patient. A dream is not going to happen over night. Keep going if it is important to you and give things time to unfold. And know when to quit or how to adapt if the process toward a dream is not working for you, if the process of its completion is draining you or if you are not as adept at your dream as you thought you might be.
5. Know that it is OK not to have dreams all the time or to find the lazy way into making a dream happen so that you don't have to deplete your energies. Who says we have to work hard in life? We can work smart. A dream of being a business person can just as easily be accomplished by expanding on an existing product or developing something that is close to something that already exists and patenting it to make it ours as it can by working your tail off in business school. Do you want the freedom or the frenzy? You decide.
