Chiropractic is a great therapy for back pain. As it is explained, the chiropractor runs his hand down your spine with slight pressure to see if there is anything that is not moving correctly. After he or she finds that stuck pressure, the doctor will then adjust the bone in that area to releive the pain.
Why is it so effective?
This method of care is so effective because the chiropractor is reducing the tension on the nervous system. Once that nerve pressure is removed, the body can start to heal itself and feel better. The chiropractor uses the adjustment to releive that pressure. When a bone is out of place, it is usally at an anle (tilted like the leaning tower of Pisa) in the body. This angle is then putting pressure on a nerve that is protruding in between that bone and the once immediately above or below it. If that nerve is having pressure put on it, most times it is manifested as pain. Like hitting your funny bone, just very slowly over years. So, when the chiropractor adjusts or manipulates that particular bone, it reduces the pressure on the nerve and simultaneously reduces the pain in that area of the back.
The great thing about chiropractic is that it has no side effects, except for the patient feeling better. Wait, that is not true...you will probably have more energy, feel better and even sleep better. To name a few. Chiropractic is one of the top ways that we as a society can rid ourselves of lots of pain, especially back pain.
