There are many ways to describe oneself. Also proper etiquette in doing so. Job interviews, you describe yourself as professional as possible. dating, you describe your looks and interests. In school, your major and why. At work, your duties and ethics code. In public, all of these.

There is a right and wrong way of describing yourself. most of the time this refers to business. personal life is another story. when you are with friends it's okay to debate your interests and views. Not so good at an interview.

I would describe myself as an energetic, fun, happy person who likes to meet new people and I love to write poetry. Now this is a good way to describe myself here on this forum. If i were looking for a job I would describe myself as a fast learner, good people skills and I have a drive for success. In dating I would describe myself as 5'4 slender/athletic reddish Brown hair Hazel eyes.
