Ways of depicting yourself

When someone asks "how would you describe yourself" to me is dependant upon the circumstance and the context within the question was broached. For example, if it was during a conversation with a person with whom you are to have a blind date obviously you would perhaps start off with a description of all your physical attributes height, body type, hair and eye color, skin tone etc. You then may lead into some personal attributes like smile a lot, laugh easily, like to gesture with your hands, etc.

If you are undergoing a job interview and that question were asked during the interview by the interviewer you would perhaps have another set of answers. You may say you are punctual, proactive, perform tasks in a timely manner, etc. As can be seen by framing the question within a different context due to circumstance, a job interview, a whole different range of answers may be given.

Obviously for the most part humans are multifaceted beings that are able to think of themselves in a variety of ways. However, we usually frame a description of self within the physical realm. As humans, we exist in a physical body but truly we are spirit driven entities. We possess more than physical attributes. Humans possess many intangible attributes that are quantifiable by those that know us. Some of those attributes may be intelligence, attitude, etc. How we affect others is how we would be described by them.

Some of our physical attributes we do have control over. We can watch our weight; dye our hair, change hairstyles, for men grow facial hair, workout to obtain body tone, tan to change the complexion of our skin. Some physical attributes we have no control over. However, humans do possess the most control over their intangible attributes. Some may argue that as humans we do not have control over intelligence and perhaps in some regard they are correct. However, humans have a way to obtain and retain knowledge and this is a matter of choice as most of the intangible attributes are.

So how can we measure our intangible attributes? We can do it easily as asking those that know us. They say that children and pets can measure character well. How do you see your children reacting to you? Does your pet exhibit happiness at seeing you arrive home? We do have an affect on others just by our mere presence. I do believe humans possess energy and that energy can be either negative or positive. Maintain a positive attitude in all things and you will shine a positive light upon all that have been in your presence. Positive energy expands and grows and defines who you are. If you remain positive in all that you do, the next time someone asks "how would you describe yourself?" Just smile and say "the best way to answer that question is for you to ask those that know me."
