The people of this country long ago made a decision to make the use and or possession of certain harmful drugs illegal. While these drugs do have their proper place as medicines (when prescribed by physicians) they have been improperly used by some members of our society. Addiction is too often the result for the user and profit is the result for the supplier. Once again it is the law of supply and demand but for one I cannot understand how one man can do this to another!
As members of the human race we should try our best to take care of each other. That is what God intended for us to do but instead we let individuals grow, import, prepare, manufacture and distribute illegal drugs to people who have become addicted for various reasons of their own. To satisfy their habits and keep their supplier with that almighty profit they have to do things that no human should ever have to do. We know that includes theft, prostitution and murder.
Some night you will come home and find your house burglarized. Some of your possessions will have been taken and others destroyed. More than likely this happened because someone was in need of their 'fix.' Hopefully they will not still be there because you might find yourself face to face with the gun you purchased for your defense. If so give them whatever they ask for and pray the weapon isn't loaded.
Over the centuries how many lives have been lost to the illicit use of drugs. China had legal opium dens for years and many people wasted their lives inhaling the substance. How many of our young people have succumbed to the idea that marijuana is harmless and spent their lives consuming the drug? How many fall into the trap of "meth" and ruin their lives and the lives of their loved ones.
Then there are those who have been sick and injured and are treated with the prescribed medicines to cure them. Sooner or later those medicines are taken away. Sometimes too soon and the result is those individuals may have to seek their medicine from an illegal source. The supplier will simply make sure they stay in need and so they can truly never recover.
So now there is an attempt to legalize some if not all of these drugs. While I can see some of them being used as medicine and legally prescribed there should never be open use of these drugs. Why?
