Good chick flicks

There are lots of good chick flicks and some of my favourites have been around quite a while. In fact many readers may disagree that they are chick flicks at all.

BRIDGET JONES DIARY

This film has got the lot-humour, romance, hurt, unrequited love, sex and a happy ever after. Well almost. Hugh Grant as the philanderer is appealing in a naughty public schoolboy sort of way, as usual, and Renee Zellwegger as the chubby Bridget is brilliant. A great tear jerker of film, some of which are from laughing. As the character Bridget is speaking from her diary it is definitely a chilck flick.

THE BODYGUARD.

Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner are on top form, with a sensational musical score into the bargain Tears and laughter along the way. The main characters fill their roles well and, although I find it a bit slushy in parts, my husband loves this film. Always a good recommendation for a chick flick as he is very sentimental. Which leads me on to another of his favorites-Ghost.

GHOST.

With sex appeal for the boys and the girls. Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze as newly weds in the full throws of romance and passion are just perfect. When Swayze is murdered an intriguing tale develops. This film also has humour, with Whoopi Goldberg in one of the leading roles. So many chick flicks are not only light, easy watching but humorous also.

Finally from me the Mammy of them all-

GONE WITH THE WIND.

This epic saga has a great story and cast. It is probably too intelligent and well made to strictly be a chick flick. However with Clark Gable in the role of Rhett Butler(frankly my dear I don't give a damn) and Vivien Leigh as Miss Scarlett(tomorrow is another day) you must be able to see what I mean. This film has the lot-romance, conflict, jealousy, sentiment, sadness, happiness and great characters. It has more than one tear jerker moment and this time from sadness.

If you've never watched it give it a go. You'll need a good long afternoon, as it's a long film. Settle down with a box of hankies and a box of chocolates and drift off in time. You'll love it girls, and maybe you boys will too.
