1) Be Yourself!
If you go into a relationship being yourself and not having secrets; you will reap the rewards of happiness! If you act like someone you're not then you will have to do that for the entire relationship.. and that won't be any fun. It will make you mentally ill as you try to keep up with a web of lies you will eventually trip on. You should also clearly show what you are looking for and if they fall far under your expectations, you should consider whether to give them another chance or to simply call it off.

2) Take Your Time!
And by this I mean.. take your time before you commit physically. Although many relationships can be made happily with sexual relations right from the beginning, many are also ruined by this as partners begin to expect sex. And when someone expects sex from you if you only did it the first time to secure the relationship, you will just lose everything you gained, and possibly more; your dignity and self respect. Not to mention you'll be scratching an extra notch into the bedpost.

3) Reciprocate!
Although this can refer to sexual acts (Which should be reciprocated unless it is inappropriate or unwanted) I mean reciprocate in how you treat that person. You should treat your partner with respect and do what you can to make them happy. They, likewise, should do the same back to you. Though, even if a partner is treating you badly, it is not an excuse to lower yourself and do the same. You should leave the relationship if you cannot act responsibly and encourage harmony between you. Treat others as you yourself wish to be treated, and then some more.
