What does a financial planner do?

A financial planner is trained in helping you gain the greatest return from your assets. They consider your financial goals for the future, and how you can best achieve them. They review all of your available resources, with the goal of helping you maximize returns.

A financial planner considers:

1.) Your goals for the future. A good financial planner asks lot's of questions. They want to know what it is you hope to achieve financially

2.) Your current age. Age is considered because time is on your side when young, allowing you the opportunity to take more risks, then when you are older.

3.) Your marital status. Singles are one income, couples are often two incomes supporting the household

4.) Children. When you have children, you have additional considerations in planning your financial goals then when you are without children

5.) Your assets and liabilities. What is your current net worth?

6.) Your assets and liabilities, and current, and anticipated net worth

7.) Tax consequences. The average person doesn't consider how much money is sent to Uncle Sam from various investment decisions. A financial planner will help you with decisions and considers the tax consequences.

These are just a few of the items a financial planner considers, there are others. A financial planner helps you develop an income statement, a cash flow analysis, and a balance sheet. All of these items are vital to helping you obtain the greatest bang for your buck.
