Follow your passion: Working for a nonprofit

Working for a nonprofit organization can be extremely rewarding and some work may still be paid . By this I mean if you are the manager or manageress of a charity shop for example . Often the shop is manned by volunteers but the overall responsibility for running things is a paid position .

However if you are passionate about something and voluntarily give up some of your time and expertise this can really satisfy . My particular passion is rescue dogs . I do have others ,and support other charities , but this is the one I volunteer to help most often .The feeling of having contributed towards making a difference and keeping the charity up and running is so satisfying .

Most people choose to do such work on a casual and part-time basis, as we all need to make a living . People leaving education , plus some older people , have taken VSO ( voluntary service overseas ) posts and have gained so much . Renumeration is small but you can see different parts of the world and experience other cultures as you give something back to mankind.

If you are passionate about something do some research to see how and where you can help . Working for a non-profit organization may be the most enjoyable and rewarding work you ever experience .
