Driver safety: How to drive through sharp turns

by Lupine

The key to driving through sharp turns is knowing where the sharp turns are. If you are unaware a sharp turn is coming up in the road you are far more likely to have an accident.

How do you know where the sharp turns in the road are? You must pay attention to the highway signs. In almost every town in every state people are employed to drive around the roads and make sure that sharp turns are marked with signs giving drivers fair warning when they are coming up in the road.

In order to safely drive through sharp turns people must pay attention to the signs which warn them when a sharp turn is coming up. Then they have plenty of time to slow down and prepare themselves for the turn.

Inexperienced drivers do not pay attention to the sharp curve or turn signs and are far more likely to have accidents on sharp turns. An old boss of mine came to work one day complaining that a young kid had side swiped his car. The kid was going to fast around a sharp curve and fishtailed into my boss's car. The kid said he was unaware of the sharp curve, even though there was a sign warning him.

When I drove to Alaska years ago I was zipping along a real country road in the Yukon. They do not put up many road sings up there. I was cruising down the road when the driver from a car in the other direction stuck out his arm and kept waving it towards the ground. I quickly figured out he was telling me to slow down and I did just as I came around a sharp dipping curve that took me directly down to a narrow bridge over a small river. None of which was visible until you were almost directly on top of it. I might have had time to slow down, but it would have been close if not for the good Samaritan. Plenty of them in the Yukon because up there you have to help each other out to survive.

In order to drive through sharp turns you must pay attention to the road signs which warn you when a sharp turn is approaching you on the road. Iy you're driving in an area with no road signs you must take it easy and expect the unexpected.
