Why college football is more loved than professional football

College football is more popular in some respects than professional football because there are hundreds of college football teams in the country. Compared with just 32 teams in the NFL.
So in terms of sheer volume, college football has far more opportunities for fans than does the NFL. Millions of college grads have direct relationships with college football. Nobody earns a diploma from the NFL.
The sheer quantity of college teams creates far more product of games for viewing on TV. However the NFL always has higher ratings than college per game. If you are just going by sheer number of viewers college may have an advantage over the NFL.
In terms of actually seeing games in person, college football just overwhelms the NFL through volume. Thousands of college games are played every year vs just hundreds for the NFL.
In the end though, the NFL is more popular than college football. The Super Bowl has far higher ratings than the National Collegiate Championship Game.
