Defining the concept of evil

Evil can be many things. There are as many perceptions of what evil is as there are people. So, my opinion, is that evil is what you believe it is.

Many people believe what others tell them is evil. For example: The Christian Church has said that all pagans worship the devil. This is ludicrous. Pagans don't believe in the Christian devil, so how can they worship him? But, the leaders of the church say they do, and they can't be wrong, now can they.

In some cultures it has been a practice to eat body parts of the dead, particularly the heart. Our culture says this is wrong, therefore evil. Why is it evil? Because we say it is? Who are we?

In some cultures is has been the practice to marry siblings. Even in England as close as the Middle Ages, marrying among first cousins was commonplace to preserve the purity of the blood lines. Now we say this is wrong, therefore evil. Why is it evil now? It was considered normal by our society a few hundred years ago. And, they were Christians, so religion can't be a factor.

Evil is what you perceive it to be. Evil is what is believed by the masses at any given time. It is all subjective.
