These are the four main reasons couples are unfaithful:
(1)They stop spending time together.
It's hard to be in a relationship with an invisible person. In a new relationship, people spend a lot of time together. This is when people go out to dinner, and see movies, and take walks in the park. All this time spent together is what allows a relationship to grow and for two people to bond. This is what gives you and your significant other memories to share. This is when you have the chance to really talk about things and get to know each other. This is when you have fun just being around each other. Both people are happy, and can't wait to spend time together again. Life is good.
Problems start when a couple stops spending time together. If the two people are no longer talking and having fun together, then they do not have an opportunity to continue bonding to each other. Its not unusual for a person to spend time with friends when they cannot see their significant other. Sometimes attractions will form between friends who share a common interest and spend lots of time together. If given enough time and opportunity, this can lead to someone being unfaithful in their relationship. After all, spending time together having fun is how people form connections. It is how the couple in question got together in the first place!
This is why marriage counselors will tell you that having one person work the graveyard shift is "death" to a relationship. It's hard to spend time together if one person is working while the other person is sleeping.
(2)Money problems take over.
It sounds stupid. How could something like money damage the love a couple has for each other? Couples facing a large debt might have to cut back on extras, like going out. This can lead to spending less and less time together, and I have already covered where that can go. In some situations, one person in a couple might blame the other for the financial difficulties they face. This can happen if one person has carried a large debt (such as student loans, or maxed out credit cards) into the relationship, or if one person is working and the other is unemployed for a long time. If the tension and stress gets bad enough, a person might be tempted to be unfaithful. Part of what brings a couple together in the first place is that it is fun to spend time together, and it makes both people feel good. If things have gotten so bad that nothing is fun and being together rarely feels good anymore, that is when people cheat
