Why do you like where you currently live?

10 Reasons I Love Living in the East Valley of Phoenix, AZ

1. I've gotten a chance to learn to shoot. Given Arizona's liberal gun laws, purchasing a weapon was quite easy. My target of choice has been rabbits, who insist on feeding in my garden.

2. I love being awakened in the middle of night when a neighborhood dog has escaped its yard and finds itself subsequently cornered by a pack of wild coyotes. For those who don't know, coyotes indulge in a lot of celebratory yapping before they feast on their prey.

3. There are no feral cats or dogs here. See above.

4. Cox, the local cable television provider, truly cares about its customers. Not wanting us to turn into "couch potatoes," it regularly disrupts its service. I don't need to see my favorite shows on the Discovery Channel any way. See above.

5. The drivers are so polite. They'll drive up right behind you, and even though you're traveling 10 miles per hour over the posted limit, these good souls, without any concern for their own life and limb will pass you by crossing the double yellow line or even via the break down lane when needed. Also, sometimes, when you're stopped at an intersection managed by police officers, they will come up behind you and honk their horns to make sure that you've seen the officers' signal to stop.

6. There is a radio station in town that plays "In The Ghetto," by Elvis ten times a day. There's no better music than that. Except for our nation's National Anthem, which is played everyday at 12 Noon. It reminds me of what it means to be a patriotic American.

7. I can drive down to the local Home Depot and find people for hire to do work at my home for $2/hour.

8. Only a guy like our county Sherriff Joe Arpaio can be so disconnected from reality that he is beyond parody.

9. I am a constituent of Senator John McCain.

10. If I can coax my ex-wife's attorney out into the local desert, he may never return alive.
