How to be emo

Being emo means you have to be morbidly clever as well as maintaining an air of indifference, which will still stay true to your taciturn nature. It must hurt to be so darn "real."

Being emo means you're in a win-win situation. It's obvious to the world that you are wearing your heart on your sleeve. You have nothing to hide because everyone knows you're depressed or emotionally challenged. And if someone is mean enough to actually criticize you, guess what? You have already beaten them to the punch.

Being emo means you will go to your Myspace page & complain about how you're misunderstood. Or better yet you will actually explain step-by-step how you're going to cut yourself so we can all share in your angst.

Being emo gives one a safety-net to be redundantly self-deprecating, while still appearing painfully brave in the face of adversity. Don't you love it when middle-class kids band together & try to make the world a better place through sarcasm & unnecessary repartee?

I guess I'm just over this whole thing. I have been through some serious stuff in my life that would make most emos think twice about labeling themselves as emotional or depressed. Generally speaking, I don't think any emo would be able to last one day in my shoes because first of all they're not Converse brand & secondly because it would be too much for them to deal with.

It's easy to say, "I'm so depressed, this sucks." Hell, every teenager I know, including myself at that age, felt this way at some point.

It's life. If you're as depressed/emotional as you claim to be, then run to your nearest mental facility & attempt to fix the problem, but if you did that, then what in the world would you have to complain about?

Get over it before it's time to explain to your own kids one day why life sucked so much when there was really nothing wrong in the first place. Oh...I almost forgot. The fact that you were born in the first place probably sucks big time, right?
