Explaining why children love learning about animals

Children love learning about animals because it is something that they are able to see and touch.

Face it, how many elementary school students do you know who have not gone on a field trip to the zoo. And how many have not studies a unit on science. And I know that many classrooms have pets.

Animals are cute, for the most part. Children have seen the life cycle of these animals. They are fun and the are interesting and the children actually have the chance to see many of the things they are learning about. This is not true with other areas of study of young kids.

Finally, learning about animals gives children a sense of empathy for other living things. It shows them that all things must be loves and taken care of in order to grown. Animals, living with them and learning about them are good for all children and should be used as often as parents and teachers can as a teaching tool.
