Getting a home loan with lousy credit
Article ToolsI was in the same position. My credit was..well not great through no fault of my own. Get a copt of your credit file first from Equifax or Experian. This details all credit that is associated with your name, this also means you carry either the good/bad credit with anyone with whom you share financial responsibilities. E.g. My file had my fiance (joint home owners) and his ex-wife (lots of debt)!
Shop around! Don't go through the application process with lots of companies, as every time you do and are unsuccessfull this will make your credit worse. Check with your bank, building society and compare all available on the internet. Be careful about whether you get a secured or unsecured etc..
Above all - don't lose hope! You can get a loan, it make take longer than expected but don't allow yourself to get frustrated and sign up to the first one that comes along.
