Hunters and fishermen regularly choose Canada as their vacation hotspot. Many provinces offer professional guides and outfitters who will fly vacationers to remote lodges for hunting or fishing adventures. But, since low-cost is a relative term, these options may seem costly to some but a great deal to others. A rule-of-thumb is to watch for low season deals as most businesses offer lower prices on the shoulders of their prime time seasons.

Shoppers won't be disappointed when vacationing in some of Canada's larger cities. Toronto, Ontario is a metropolitan body similar to New York City; Edmonton, Alberta is host to the world's largest mall, West Edmonton Mall, and Vancouver, British Columbia is rife with upscale boutiques. Again, low-cost will be determined by where a vacationer stays and how he or she gets around.

In major cities, public transportation is very efficient. Toronto, Vancouver, and Edmonton also have their own rapid transit or subway systems which are very budget-oriented, and a safe way to travel. These public systems save a great deal over taxi travel.

Food is never a problem when vacationing in Canada. However, staying within budget when faced with the wide range of tasty food choices may be an issue. Canada offers a huge selection of dining choices from roadside truck diners to upscale gourmet big city restaurants. Other options include small ethnic eateries, fast food outlets and giant grocery stores.

As to lodging, hotel rooms go on sale regularly. A careful watch on Internet sites like Expedia.ca, Travelzoo.ca, Hotels.ca, can ensure a traveler budget-wise options. Travelzoo and Expedia also list hot deals on airline travel.

But the best low-cost vacation, especially for those travelers residing in Canada, is to simply hop into a car. A short drive into the countryside, complete with loved ones and a well-packed picnic cooler, is one of Canada's best low-cost vacations.
