What exactly is a hero?
A hero is that man or woman who leaves behind their loved ones to protect our country. They kiss goodbye their families to make sure that they wake up each day in a safe country. They guard our coast and bear the treacherous weathers of different countries to keep our country safe. It doesn't matter if the war is necessary or not, but we have thousands of heroes out there making sure that this country is OK.
A hero are those men and women both employees and volunteers of our fire stations, hospitals, and police forces. They protect our streets and put their heart and soul into keeping our citizens safe and sound. A police man makes sure that trouble is kept off the streets and there is protection. Our firemen prevent injuries from fires and are always the first to arrive to a scene of an accident. Our EMT's do not give up on someone sick or injured until that innocent human's last breath.
A hero are those who chose a profession of educating our future. They take such a small salary to shape the minds of young children into the very best that they can be. Each day they wake up knowing that they hold a small part in the children of this country's future, and do everything in their power to give them the knowledge to succeed.
A hero are mother's and father's. Whether single parents or two parents. They bring life to a newborn child and help that child grow in the most positive environment possible.
I can be a hero, and so can you. You don't need super powers, you don't need to fly, you don't have to read minds, and you don't need to have super strength. Each and every one of us has the potential to become a hero. All you need to do is be selfless. If you see someone in need, don't be a bystander help them. If the opportunity arises for you to perform a selfless act, don't think twice.
We are all heroes, whether if we are looked up to by a small child, or if we are saluted by our peers for serving our country.
