Election fraud is the deliberate interference with the process of an election. Such efforts and campaigns can be quite sophisticated, involving court challenges and counter-challenges. It is the misrepresentation or alteration of the true results of an election. Having known this. How can this election fraud be reduce in developing countries? Many countries today are fully involved in this social vices called "Election Fraud". I am taking my country (Nigeria) as a case study.
Recently, on the her ongoing general election in this 2007 in Nigeria, many people have been killed because of this election fraud. Many lives have been wasted, ust because everyone is striving for various position.
I know that election fraud can not be totally remove from developing country but it can be drastically reduced if the following actions are taken.
The Government of such developing country should introduce Coalition Against Election Fraud.
The incumbent government should be dissolved before election date to minimize rigging.
The election should be conducted in a place where Video-cameras can capture all happening during voting period.
International bodies from developed countries should present during the election period.
Since the local(home) security services are in support of the incumbent government, there is therefore need for foreign security services to monitor all the a fairs of the election.
The election should no longer be do or die affair as some think it was. The masses should be given equal right to election materials to vote in their choice.
If the above action are taken, I think election fraud will later be a thing of the past in any country that adopted them.
