The importance of the Louisiana Purchase in American history

How about doubling the size of the nation!That is how important it was.
Every child learns about the Lewis and Clark Expedition sent out by Thomas Jefferson to explore his bold purchase.Jefferson appropriated twenty five hundred dollars to outfit the trip .
Remember Sacagawea?Well she saved their lives along the way by bringing the starving men fish to eat.She and her Baby and her French Canadian husband smoothed the way westward.

The purchase opened the way for trade and good relations with the Native Americans
who lived there.It also sealed the fate of foreign encroachment on American soil.
The timely purchase added vast natural resources to our nation.It also gave us access
to strategic ports .

Thomas Jefferson made a momentous decision when he bought this sprawling wilderness
which we take for granted today.
