Similar to many other things in life, computer games used in balance with an active lifestyle, social interaction, and relaxation can be very beneficial. The trick is to find the correct balance by limiting the number of hours you allow yourself to play games to ensure that you are eating, getting exercise, sleep, and interacting with your family and friends.
Now, for something completely different, there is research that supports the benefits of computer and console games. Surgeons who were asked to partake in games where they used the mouse of control stick to complete tasks were found to have increased accuracy when performing arthroscopic surgeries. The surgeons indicated that they found they were able to increase their precision and accuracy when performing delicate cuts in tissues, by using instruments threaded through very small cavities.
If you could choose between a surgeon who plays computer games at somewhat regular intervals for short periods of time and one that avoids them at all costs what would you choose?
