Consider this. When I was in grammar school, mankind did the impossible, overcoming technological problems to visit our moon. Do you think people in the 1800's considered this realistic? Ever? Of course not, save some who were considered crackpots. Flush with that success, we went on to the present, having landed on Mars a Rover to explore some of that planets surface. Now, it seems more plausible that one day humans from Earth will set foot one far-away planets. Oh, I know, some say we first must figure out how to go fast enough, light speed or almost that. Maybe not. Maybe another tack will be taken. What we now know is that planets with viable atmospheres not only exist, they are as common as stars. Sophisticated telescopes have detected a few that are positioned very similarly to our own, with remarkably livable atmospheres. As we learn more, we will also yearn more. Within our grasp in the near future is to build long range ships, bigger than an aircraft carrier. With nuclear power, one of these can eventually make the trip, possibly over several generations, establishing our race on Earth Deuce, if you please. Fantastic? Sure, but doable. I would volunteer for such an expedition, even knowing that subsequent generations would live and die aboard ship long before reaching the final destination. The ultimate adventure, exploration to the max! Let's go!
