It is important to be able to communicate details about the hairstyle you want to your stylist. If you are unable to make your needs clear, they may mistakenly give you a style which you really don't really want, and there's nothing worse than being unhappy with what should be your crowning glory.
Before the stylist gets to work on your hair make sure you discuss exactly what you would like. It can be helpful if you take to the salon pictures of a celebrity sporting the particular style that you desire. This way the stylist will have a visual representation to refer to, rather than relying on a verbal description.
As you discuss the style you want you may find that your stylist gives you some tips about what might suit you better than the look you are thinking of. While you don't want to be bamboozled into having a style that you don't like, it can be sensible to consider alternatives that the stylist has to offer. It may be that you can incorporate some of their professional ideas into the style that you had in mind originally.
Aspects of the style that your stylist may consider are whether the haircut will suit your particular face shape, and the texture of your hair. However, most styles can be adapted by a good stylist, who will know how to achieve a look that will work best for you.
If you are certain that you wish to keep you hair a particular length, or that you really don't want bangs, stick to your guns and don't let yourself be talked out of it. What you really want is more important than another persons idea about what you should look like in the long run.
The best way to always get what you want from your stylist is to build a rapport with them. This can be done by remaining loyal to them, as long as you like their work, and by having your hair maintained by them on a regular basis. Not only will they begin to understand what works best for your particular texture of hair, but they will also get to know your personality, including your likes and dislikes.
Once your stylist has this kind of knowledge about you they will be able to give you the very best treatment to suit you. This will leave you feeling happier, and more confident about communicating with them about exactly what it is that you want, and at the same time, will let them speak more freely with you about any thoughts and ideas they have too.
