Relaxing
I twist a flower around my finger,
laying in the cool green grass,
watching as the slow clouds,
go rolling past
I breathe the smell in,
the one that only lasts a while,
of summer sun and memories,
and I begin to smile.
I smile for past summers,
and for those that lie ahead,
of Popsicles and bare feet,
sunburned skin hot and red
Of freckles that appear,
that the winter sometimes hides,
of fast and freeing moments,
and topless sport car rides
And of this moment,
of quiet warmth around me,
the moment when summer,
lets my greatest thoughts free.
