Cleveland doesn't feel sold on RB Adrian Peterson and chooses OL Joe Thomas, a stud at tackle who can be a definite cornerstone. This would make it very easy for Tampa Bay, with the next pick, to take Calvin Johnson-Tampa needs a playmaker like this- and for Gaines Adams to go with the fifth pick to the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona needing someone on that defense who they can look to as THAT guy.
Get the drift? It goes kind of like this, once the big names are off the board, and don't listen to the INSIDERS, Russell, Quinn and Johnson are the only must haves in this draft, once they are gone, teams can settle into drafting for their needs. We know Washington and Minnesota need defensive help, look for those teams to go with SS Laron Landry or DL Amoibi Okoye. Atlanta Falcons also need defensive help, so look for them to go with a Alan Branch or Adam Carriker, both lineman with immediate impact capabilities. Miami's biggest hole was their offensive line last year and Penn State's OL Levi Brown makes such good sense here that it probably won't happen. Look for Houston to again draft for their defense, taking CB Leon Hall to shore up a weak secondary.
Confused? Yeah, I know how you feel. What I wouldn't give to actually be in one of the "War rooms" on draft day to really get the in's and out's of this process. Just remember what happens to the best laid plans, which is why many teams gave up on subscribing to that theory a while ago.
