The Beginning

In the beginning there was harmony of spirit. All was as one and one was as all. Eons passed as seconds while beautiful works were created. This spirit filled the universe with its glory and light.
Then into this concert of living energy came a seed of corruption and discord. It planted itself in an area that was weak and distant from the heart. This evil seed started to grow, spreading its dark roots. Then came a time of great chaos. During this time the Great Spirit in its infinite wisdom used a portion of itself to created the Earth Mother. With great care and wisdom this unclean portion was separated and bound to her. As with all surgeries to remove malign tissues a portion of the pure had to be separated with the evil.
This purity called out to the Great Spirit longing to rejoin in the perfect harmony that was. The Spirit answered, "I will give you a way, but first you must cleanse your heart of all evil." "How can this be done," asked the Earth Bound? The Spirit answered, "Follow the path I will make for you and you will return home. Follow any other and you will only return to the place you started from." The Great Spirit let it also be known that the path would not be easy so that evil would not follow.
Then the Great Spirit with all its compassion worked with the Earth Mother to make a pathway home. They created all the land and water on the surface of the Earth Mother. The Great Spirit insulated itself around the Mother to form the sky, sun and the rest of the universe. They made the trees and plants on the land to give off the air to breathe. The sun pulled up moisture from the oceans to be given back as nourishment to these. They created the creatures of the air, land and water to live in accord with each others needs. These were made as male and female so they could have a partner with which to share the continuance of their kind.
Then they created man and woman to be partners. This is so they would have someone to share with on the path home. Into each they placed a small piece of this Earth Bound Spirit. In this Spirit was placed the knowledge to tell good from evil and a guiding light to the path of purity. The more the evil is allowed to grow the dimmer the guiding light becomes so no evil may find its way. The way of birth was created as the return for the spirit that does not complete the path. Knowledge of previous journeys on the path remain in memory, waiting to be summoned by the true of heart.
