Movie reviews: What the Bleep Do We Know

My Rating 5/5 - ESSENTIAL FILM TO WATCH BEFORE YOU DIE!

What the Bleep Do We Know? is one of those cult films that everyone should watch at least once because it cannot help but shift your outlook on life. Don't be put off if you don't know much about quantum mechanics or scientific theory because this film is well explained for the lay person and is more about life, reality and mind and how in the end they are one and the same thing.

It will show you a side of the world that is magical and yet is scientifically possible. It paradoxically brings together opposing ideologies of God/religion and science in a way that has never happened before. The film is a combination of dramatic scenes (staring Marlee Matlin) spliced with scientific interviews from various people in related fields.

What's it all about?

Much like "The Secret" one of the themes running through the film is how positive attraction is explainable in a quantum world. One poignant demonstration of this is water crystals: A man in Japan called Masaru Emoto has been taking microscopic images of water exposed to certain thoughts and shows how they can transform the shape of the waters crystal formation. Positive thoughts produces varying beautiful snowflake like crystals and negative thoughts turn the water into an ugly slime. And what are we made of? 2/3rds water! As echoed in the film: "If a thought can do that to water just imagine what it can do to us".

What's in a Name?

As the title suggests this film questions whether it's possible to ever really "know" something for sure. When multiple realities can co-exist and the deciding factor between what you experience and what others experience is down to the mind, what we believe and our self imposed limitations, what therefore is fact when we see what we want to see? This is just one of the many cans of worms this film opens up, or "Rabbit Holes" as they describe it.

Film/DVD Versions:

Now there are different versions of this film. The Theatrical Version, which I would recommend you watch first, gives you a decent summary of all the interviews and grounding in the subject matter so you can go deeper if you want to.

There is a however a Quantum Edition "Down the Rabbit Hole" DVD that was devised after the Theatrical release (but also includes it) because there was so much demand for more information that the directors released this extended version containing longer interviews.

But here's the best bit of this quantum edition, if you have a Region 1/USA DVD player
