So, you want to wear your jeans hanging past your butt-crack, but you want to be taken seriously in the business world? Then you'd better make a choice; low-hanging jeans that look like a droopy diaper will undermine a professional presence.
Some people have forgotten there is a time and place for everything, and that includes sloppy over-sized jeans. You wouldn't wear a nightgown while grocery shopping; people who do this get picked up by men in white coats. You wouldn't wear a tuxedo to a football game, and you wouldn't wear a shirt and tie to clean your basement. But you can wear your low-hanging jeans to any one of those events.
Just because the fashion industry designs a "look", it does not mean the look is for all occasions. Those who prefer low-hanging butt-exposing jeans must understand that their clothing choice shouts loudly in the business environment. The man wearing a smart pair of khaki pants paired with a polo shirt or dress shirt and tie will be given much more credence than the man whose jeans look in danger of falling to his ankles.
If you want to be treated as a professional, then treat others with respect by wearing appropriate clothing in professional situations. No one cares what you wear to the football game or grocery store because what you wear there has nothing to do with the business at hand. But what you choose to wear to the office will greatly affect your fellow workers' attitudes toward you.
If you want to be seen as a professional; dress professionally, pull up those pants. Low-hanging over-sized jeans are not a good choice in a business environment.
