I'd like to introduce you all to the Nokia N95.
In summary, this is the first mobile phone I have been excited about in a very long time. It fills so many of my needs and has so many features I think I'll be using it for quite some time to come. In short I am seriously impressed.
The N95 is truly a delight for anyone that is technically inclined, this phone has it all.
From the 16 million colour screen to the two way slider to the 5 mega-pixel digital camera, the designers have thought about what excites the 'geek' when they designed this product. At first glance the phone has a shining silver faceplate and a plum coloured rear casing. Quite unique in appearance when compared to all recent additions to the cell phone market.
On first impression when picking up the phone you can't get over how light it feels. I was anticipating a lot more weight in the phone and was very pleasantly surprised. The screen quality is excellent and is really designed with the expectation that the user will be watching some form of streaming video.
With this in mind, the screen can be switched into 'landscape' mode (via the two way screen selector) so you get the true feeling of watching a wide screen mobile production!
Another feature I was truly impressed with was the addition of a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack. Having this sort of standardisation means you aren't restricted to the sort of headphones you can wear while listening to music or watching video. Software to stream pod-casts is also available at no charge.
The list of features in this phone is extensive, it supports Bluetooth, infrared, USB to PC as well as 802.11a/b/g wireless connectivity and an inbuilt GPS. So much has been packed into this phone, it really is a technological marvel.
Memory storage is via microSD cards. The largest capacity currently available in this range is 2Gb.
This will be the first article in a series where I cover off the various aspects of the N95. If there is something you'd specifically like to know about this phone, please ask.
I hope you enjoyed this first brief taste of the Nokia N95
