I believe that one of the most absurd things that our society does, is our obsession with celebrities lives. Can we seriously not find anything better to do, than to peek into someone else's life? I think it is an invasion of privacy, and is down-right judgmental.
Imagine yourself going to your local shopping center, or even try to catch a Starbucks and having to always look over you back. I mean, how would you feel; knowing that you can't even meet up with a friend to have a quick chat.
The big question for me is, why do look up to celebrities in the first place? Yes, they have all these materialistic success - but, do they really have anything to show other than theses things. Isn't the real success in having loving relationships, and helping others through tough times.
Last time I checked, everything we tend to shun in our society is what most celebrities lives entail; cheating, divorce, multiple marriages, and arrogancy. Why do we aspire to have life like theirs? I have met many people who have nothing, and are still filled with more joy than celebrities.
Why don't we aspire to be people who change the world? People who actually make a difference, and build our society up. Would you really like to sail away in your yacht in the Caribbean, knowing you could of loved someone? Instead in our selfishness, we find comfort in our money, and fancy "stuff".
The truth is, the success of celebrities are nothing but a facade - a superficial competition to the next Oscar, or box-office hit. But I challenge you to make a decision to aspire to bring life, and love to the people around - and miss the mid-life crisis that so many "successful" people find.
