Medicine and medical practice in China

Since the beginning of written history there has always been someone that has taken the roll of doctor. Whether it was a shaman, medicine man, or even a family member, they have all been there to help to the sick and injured. China is no different than these other areas, and like all the other areas over time they eventually developed a more scientific processes than their superstitious ideas of what caused illness. These ideas changed over time and in the Sung Dynasty they started looking at the symptoms of the illness and figured out what caused the illness.
