Learning the art of braiding rugs

Oh excellent, I love rag rugs! For ever now my Grandma has been making these beautiful rugs and giving them to the family as gifts. Well my Aunt decided, we better learn how to make these rugs cause Grandma isn't going to be around forever. We had a party two years ago, got Grandma out of her little house and the whole family had a rag rug party! We all sat on the porch at my Aunt and Uncles house and torn all the old sheets into strips and were having a great time until the actual "work" of making these rugs came to be! No body could figure it out! My Grandma is a pretty tough cookie and her method was somewhat by presentation and follow along and when we couldn't get it cause she was going too fast she would yell at us! lol, we all had a laugh at getting yelled at by Grandma. Well we all left the party with no more knowledge of making rag rugs than what we had going into it!

I decided I needed a little one on one with Grandma cause I was determined to figure this out. I made it a point to go over there every Friday after work and not only did get to bond and really get to know my Grandma, but I also learned how to make rag rugs, well kinda, my first one ended up looking more like a bowl than a rug, but my cats didn't mind, they still slept on it! I am currently perfecting my skills but I plan on passing down the art of rag rugs just like my Grandma has!
