The Bush administration's approach to global warming

The Bush administration has taken very disappointing and lack luster action against global warming. Even when they finally react with suggested changes regarding consumers approach to cars the reasoning is stated as "national security" not environmental.

How can we expect anyone to take this issue seriously when one of the biggest contributing nations won't even own their part in the problem, or their responsibility to fix it. It is the responsibility of the power nations to lead by example and try to fix this problem we have created.

The issue of global warming has been a subject of debate for much longer than it should have been. The evidence is clear enough that people should have implemented energy efficiency and lowered emissions schemes years ago.

Countries like Australia are experiencing the worst droughts seen in over one hundred years. Dams are below 40% capacity and water restrictions are now permanent. Australians are not allowed to water their gardens with a hose, water any hard surface and now it would appear they no longer have the water to irrigate their crops.

Global warming is effecting the global community in major, life-changing ways. It is therefore the responsibility of all of the global community to equally contribute to rectifying the situation. It is incredibly disappointing to see the supposed most powerful nation in the world being so careless with their actions. Sometime you have to sacrifice a little to gain a lot, and if the individual is not willing to volunteer such sacrifices then it is the obligation and responsibility of the government to impose such restrictions on the populace.
