out here can cost a kid their life.
I believe that no one has really taken a step back and looked at the bigger picture to realize that the trucking companies are to blame for most every single thing out here. It seems to me, that if anyone really wanted to come up with some real solutions they would take a look at the root of the problem rather than the results of the problem unfair pay, and deceptive business practices across the board by almost every major carrier. One only needs to look as far as at the vast amount of documented cases brought to the courts by the Owner Operator's Independent Driver's Association (OOIDA) and The American Trucking Association (ATA) against the "BIG" trucking companies to support this claim. The OOIDA website is filled with unfair, unethical and unjust business practices of these trucking companies.
In the little amount of time that I have been driving, and for the record I love what I do for a living; I have become cumbersome with all the issues and stresses that we face every single day out here. I have begun to believe that we are akin to modern day sharecroppers, while congress and the corporations we work for are the major factors inhibiting our incomes, social lives and the overall well-being of our families.
Every single day we have a virtually unknown commitment to protect your children and your children's children when we get up and go to work. Most recently we have been asked to be the eyes and ears for homeland security out here on the road, yet to do this we must endure our most important issue, our families and their welfare, being taken out with the trash. All we want is the same as you the very best for them.
