Poetry: Prayer

by Jacob Reis

Created on: April 20, 2007   Last Updated: May 14, 2007

My God, I hope that you will hear
and listen well this prayer mine
You must receive billions per year
Listen with the angels thine.

My heart does not sleep on this day of rest
It beats still quick and loud
Remove this pain from my chest
So I may enjoy this life allowed.

I suffer from stress and thoughts of sin
Let me not forget
that you, my Lord, have taken me in,
and that you have kept me safe thus yet.

So God and Jesus I pray to thee,
leave me not here to suffer
Give me strength and guide me
to help me and make me tougher.
