The first few years following the opening of my husbands cartage company
were very tight. We were very young and the girls were still toddlers.
I still recall how he would cringe whenever I would ask him for any extra
money. Most of the profit was going back into the business to keep it
running. We had to make many sacrifices to get this thing off the road and
eventually it did. Our little trucking business took off in the mid-1980's.
We had an annual income of $250,000.00 and I could be a stay at home mom.
I was wet behind the ears when it came to money and really didn't realize how
well off that we were. The road to success was not an easy one and you can't
expect to see the rewards right away. There were many times we had to
pinch our pennies but in time we found that our efforts were not in vain.
