Sharp dressed man: Fashion tips for men trying to impress women

Dear Males,

Want to set off in the world to find a mate? Find it hard to decide what the go-getting women of today want in a man? Don't know whether to throw on some tee or to smarten up with a shirt, and perhaps a blazer? I am here to help.

Women had a mental checklist, whether they know it or not, of what they look for in a man. Although the female species often claim they seek humor, intelligence and kindness before good looks, this is not so. As with everything in life, we vixens judge first on appearances. So, you better make the first a good one.

Gals may say they like a well turned out man, perhaps wearing a suit or dressed down in his jeans. That all depends on the woman really, but they are general rules you can follow.

The first guideline is to wash. That may sound a little too simple, but most women don't want scruff-bags. Use some deodorant, some intoxicating (BUT NOT OVERPOWERING) aftershave, shave or trim your beard, and you have won half the battle.

Wear clothes that make you comfortable. That make you feel at ease. If you feel like a dork in a business suit, chances are you will look like it too as it doesn't blend with your personality. And vice versa, if you are used to wearing shirts and jumpers, don't suddenly start wearing jeans and slogan tees. If it's not you, then you are sending out a false message about yourself. Chances are you will attract a wrong type for you wearing the wrong clothes for you.

This is where it gets a little complicated. Look as though you have made an effort, but not too much of an effort. Women, mostly, love a well-groomed man, but not an overly groomed man.

A man might expect a woman to shave her legs or make an effort with a little fake tan. A woman does not expect this of her man. If you turn up to a bar wearing fake tan, no matter how much it suits you, it gives out the wrong signal. It shows us ladies that you are vain, you probably take as long to get ready as we do and that, if we moved in together, you will have as many products as we do.

Women like to be the beautiful ones in the relationship. We do not want to be outshone by a boyfriend who uses fake tan or shaves his legs/chest/nether region.

My last tip is to be yourself. Don't worry about all the little things. Wear what you want (as long as it's clean) and as long as you are you, someone will love you.
