When tragedy happens, why does the news media find it necessary to broadcast video clips and photos of the people or person who caused this tragedy to happen. And if that isn't bad enough, they tell you that the video and photos are graphic and that young children should leave the room.
This morning on Good Morning America, of course, once again, the main topic was about the Virginia Tech shooter. Showing disturbing video tape clips and photos of Cho right before he went on his rampage. I know as a society, when a tragedy like this happens, we are all intrigued by the details of the case. We want to know why this happened, what was he thinking, could this have been prevented, etc.
In the midst of all this information, the news media tends to forget about the victims of this tragedy - cho was not a victim. What about the 32 others who were killed, and what about the wounded, those who were released from the hospital and those who are still in th hospital. Cho made the video tape and took the photos and personally delivered the package to the post office becuase he wanted to make sure that he got the attention he longed for after he committed these horrible crimes - and guess what, we gave it to him. If the families of the victims see this - I can't imagine how they fee.
Let's have a little respect for the families of the victims. Let's have a little respect for the rest of the student body at Virginia Tech. And, let's honor those innocent victims who did nothing to deserve what happened to them on Monday, April 16, 2007.
