Climate Change

Is there a scientific consensus about global warming?

Debate regarding global warming is currently gagged by a powerful environmental lobby and populist opinion arguing that industrial processes and greenhouse gas emissions post industrial revolution are triggering significant climate changes. World governments, politicians and environmental activists espousing hysterical claims of rising sea levels as high as 50m along with unprecedented super-storms, tsunamis and other severe weather events thrive on public ignorance, and shamelessly use effective propaganda with pseudo-scientific facts selected to support their positions. Argument to the contrary of accepted opinion is stifled by ridicule, discrediting and sometimes personal attacks on any that dare to suggest the global warming issue is untested, inconsistent with evidence, unsubstantiated and still only a theory.

Ex US Vice-President Al Gore recently fronted a world-class Hollywood production incorporating visual imagery using leading-edge special effects in his documentary entitled "An Inconvenient Truth". Feeding on perceived ignorance of the masses, Gore shamelessly preached his message of apocalyptic disasters and environmental destruction which in turn whipped up a new frenzy of public support with few stopping to question the validity of wild claims so dramatically illustrated on the big screen.

Over a period estimated 6.5 billion years in existence, clear evidence exists to tell us this planet experienced many cycles of ice ages followed by warmer climatic conditions. Samples studied from deep ice-core samples suggest an order of magnitude of 20 000 years between ice age conditions, and there are variations in the severity of each individual ice age. It is also clear that glaciers advance and retreat through cycles determined in response to average global temperature as evidenced by scouring of hard rock faces in mountains and valleys.

The last ice age lowered the average sea level sufficiently enough for land bridges between continents to provide a literal highway of traffic where early humans and countless species of animal roamed and wandered in search of food and shelter. As the ice retreated, rising sea levels inundated the land bridges as much as 200 feet clearly this global warming event was not caused by human industrial activity. From fossils, landscape and shape as well as scouring, evidence of vast inland seas many thousands of years ago tell us that sea levels were far higher than what we see today. Cities constructed
