Celebrity endorsements: Assessing the trend of celebrities doing commercials

Companies make the bulk of their profits from young people. Young people are
typically swayed by their idols so it makes sense that name brand companies
have celebrities endorsing their products. Advertising attracts customers and
celebrities attract young people. I see a more realistic, positive influence coming
across in many commercials. Anna Nicole Smith, Kirstie Alley and Valerie Bertonelli
have all shared their difficulties of weight gain and have welcomed us into their
quest to lose weight. This is a great support for women having trouble with being
bigger. Back in the seventies, this was unheard of. Celebrities hardly would
show their vulnerabilities and weaknesses. Commercials today have women of all sizes promoting their products. Queen Latifa is a beautiful example of this. Her
presence confirms that you can look good no matter what your weight is. I am also
happy to see that if a celebrity falls from grace (like O.J. Simpson) than the
company will suspend them from further advertisement.
