Assessing the US media coverage of global warming

Media coverage such as it is doesn't cover the most important topics that would be either beneficial or a detriment to us as human beings unless of course what it is that they cover will draw the most interest.

Most everyone today is caught up with the war, gas prices, celebrity scandals, political scandals, and other issues that have no real bearing on the real issue of what would constitute a global catastrophe.

Global warming is real, and it is addressed on the media, but only in a way that it takes a back seat to all other coverage because most do not understand the consequences until we are faced with it in such a way there is a drastic change in our life styles.

However, more and more of those of celebrity status and others who are in the public eye are beginning to take it upon they themselves to bring this most important issue to our attention, and although many may discount this threat, it is real, and real enough so that some very important people want us to know about it.

Aside from the media providing updates on the problem, there isn't much they can do to push for more attention so as to address the issue, and unless there is an immediate associated problem, the coverage is sporadic at best.

If God provided a miracle tomorrow in a way that it gained worldwide attention, the media would cover the miracle for one or two days, and then it's back to 24/7 of a Donald Trump, Rosie O'Donnell tiff as it would draw more attention.

Unfortunately unless the mass majority of today's society was interested in our future rather than today's issues of everyday living, coverage of major events will take a back shelf as it just doesn't provide enough interest for viewer attention except for those who have a higher awareness of the importance of such an impending catastrophe in the making.
