to get him, he walks up to me and immediately gives me akiss. It is our greeting. It is also how he greets people when I introduce them to him.
Scout will not let anyone else mount him, or handle him. If I am there, he will be friendly to people, but he will not go near anyone if I am not around. Some people say he is too dependent on me, but what am I to do? The horse has been traumatized, and I am not one to have many people ride my horse anyhow.
Some people, especially people who have limited horse experience, think it a challenge when I say he will not let anyone on. They proceed to tell me how THEY can ride him, and my explanation that he is not a beginner's horse falls on deaf ears. If he does not know you, he will get frightened at the prospect of someone he does not know on his back, and therefore, will not let anyone get on. Which is fine by me. There are not many people out there who have the patience and experience to deal with such a problem. My heart aches for the many misunderstood horses that end up with such a fate.
There were a few times when I wasn't so sure I could deal with Scout either. But now I tell everyone that God hand picked that horse for me!
