DUELING EGOS
"I'm really not that good," Jane says,
and quickly turns away.
"I cannot spell, my plots are vague,
I'm giving up today."
Jane yearns for Dick to take the bait,
to tell her that's she's fine.
Just one small word, that's all she wants,
but Dick just drinks his wine.
"It's hard," Jane adds, "to push yourself
when hope is all you've got,
to show, not tell, to chase your dream
when it may be for naught."
"You may be right, I wouldn't know,
it's really not my thing.
But don't you think my voice is great?
Jane, I was born to sing!"
